After we have worked hard and enjoyed first smaller preparational and locally oriented activities during summer, the Georg Simmel Association has closed the programme for the International Conference on Simmel – A RELATIONAL ANALYSIS OF LIFE, CULTURE AND SOCIETY.
As you might already know, we are counting with many of the most amazing scholars and intellectuals from all over the world that have worked with Simmel during the last decades. We are excited to engage finally our small but constantly growing community in debates and productive conversations along the legacy of Simmel and his relational approach.
If there are some of you who for any reason have missed the deadline for presenting a paper, we would be delighted to welcome you in Portbou as visitors, listeners and productive feedback providers. Please feel very much welcome! The aim of our conference is to build relationships along the very broad field of topics Simmel touched upon.
Please review the Travel Information to Portbou so that your journey is comfortable and smooth! Check our Facebook and Instgram (@wechselwirkungportbou) for latest infos, activities and reflections!

Thank you for joining us in this adventure we’re delighted to be sharing with you!
The “International Georg Simmel Association for Relational Analysis and Creation” brings together scholars from different disciplines: philosophy, literature, architecture, intellectual and social history, visual arts, sociology and pedagogy, who share a passion for Georg Simmel’s works and who are willing to spend their time and efforts engaging in scholarly discussions regarding his fruitful oeuvre, but also exploring the meanings and meanders of Simmel’s legacy in our everyday lives, in our relations… in our Wechselwirkungen as Simmel would frame it.
This is why our non-profit association seeks to organise and engage in academic practices, exchanges and dialogues, but also wishes to explore sociability, culture and life beyond the academy and in close interrelation with the village that hosts us, Portbou, and beyond… wherever our members take us!
